the red hat sales team is looking for a senior solutions architect to joins us in raleigh, nc. in this role, you will create possibilities, solve problems, and establish working relationships with our customers. you will help our customers invest in solutions from across the red hat portfolio that will give them a competitive advantage. as a senior solutions architect, you'll support field sales account managers in managing large government accounts and businesses. we'll need you to apply your technical expertise, passion for open source, thorough understanding of business processes, and ability to identify and create business solutions across multiple technology platforms at the enterprise level. you'll also need excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a crucial part of the first impression our customers have with red hat.
**primary job responsibilities**
+ work with red hat's global partner ecosystem to bring jointly developed technology solutions to market.
+ expand red hat's key internet of things (iot) partnerships that build their applications on red hat's middleware portfolio.
+ ensure red hat technologies work in the iot marketplace by building demos, prototypes, proofs of concept, and overall solutions for our partners and customers.
+ work hands-on with partner technical counterparts to prototype solutions that combine red hat technology with embedded technologies from key hardware and software iot vendors.
+ validate new joint solutions with iot partners through architecture design and reviews, as well as through building prototype deployments.
+ provide occasional training for partners, including product overviews and roadmaps to partner technical and business audiences.
+ present red hat solutions and technical proposals to potential partners and design value-driven architectures, as well as explain the application and return on investment of these solutions from a business context.
+ work with red hat sales teams, including solutions architects and global professional services, to demonstrate new approaches to working with partners to meet enterprise customer needs with solutions.
+ provide competitive analysis, where appropriate, from knowledge gained from partner field alignment. interlock with red hat product development and management teams to serve as a channel for functional and non-functional requirements to be communicated from customers and partners to affect future product feature design.
+ develop messaging and collateral that effectively translate red hat's technology offerings into industry vertical contexts.
+ bachelor's degree (u.s. or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering or a related field plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
+ must have seven (7) years of experience with developing and deploying java enterprise edition (jee)-based messaging, enterprise integration, and business rules technologies.
+ must have five (5) years of experience with: concisely explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and articulating the business value of given technical solution (in the context of sales engagements); designing open-source based solutions and involvement in the overall open source enterprise software marketplace; and attracting and guiding customers and partners, developing relationships at engineering, commercial, and executive levels throughout organizations.
+ must have two (2) years of experience with: industry vertical oriented enterprise software sales in at least one of the following segments: retail or consumer product goods, transportation/logistics, manufacturing, or healthcare; and cloud computing technologies, including big data and analytics platforms.
+ must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel. all travel expenses will be covered by red hat.
